Friends for Life (FFL) are a local charity working to address the social isolation of residents in Bedford’s care homes. Founded in 2007, we have grown from a small local initiative to a charity with over 70 volunteers, supporting 35 care homes across Bedfordshire; something which we are very proud of.

We recognise the negative impact loneliness can have on a person’s well-being and we help to address this by recruiting volunteers to become personal befrienders, offering friendship and company to care home residents who have few or no external visitors.

We also focus on bringing the community into the local care homes and facilitate relationships between community groups, businesses and schools to prevent social isolation and that feeling of being ‘forgotten’.

If you’d like to make a difference and get involved with what we do, our website covers all the various ways you can do this.  Options are very flexible and can fit around existing commitments – there really is something for everyone!
